Have your say on the plan to redevelop Landsdowne Park
The debate continues surrounding a proposed public-private partnership to redevelop Lansdowne Park, and I want to hear what you think. City Council will debate the merits of the plan in November.
For background information on the Lansdowne public-private partnership plan.
Some questions to consider include:
- Does Ottawa need a new sports stadium for professional football and/or soccer?
- If yes, is it a priority to invest $129 million in public funds for a professional sports stadium?
- If so, is Landsdowne Park an appropriate location for a stadium for the next 75 years, or should it be located instead near a rapid transit station such as Bayview, Le Breton Flats or Hurdman?
- If Landsdowne is the right location, what do you think of this particular proposal, including commercial and residential development on the site?
- If you like the plan, should the City approve it as a sole-sourced (non-competitive) contract?
- If yes, does the plan make good financial sense and protect the interests of taxpayers?

Public consultations on redeveloping Lansdowne Park begin September
28. The City will be gathering feedback from residents at a series of
six public open houses that will be held throughout the community
between September 28 and October 6. I encourage you to participate.

Voici quelques-unes des questions qu'il faut examiner :
- Ottawa a-t-elle besoin d'un nouveau stade en vue d'accueillir des équipes professionnelles de football ou de soccer ou les deux?
- Si oui, est-il prioritaire d'investir 129 millions $ des fonds publics dans un stade pour des équipes de sports professionnelles?
- Si c'est le cas, le parc Landsdowne est-il, pour les 75 prochaines années, un emplacement approprié pour un stade ou ce dernier devrait-il être situé près d'une station du transport en commun rapide telle que Bayview, Plaines LeBreton ou Hurdman?
- Si Landsdowne constitue l'endroit idéal, que pensez-vous de cette proposition en particulier, y compris des aménagements résidentiel et commercial sur le site?
- Si vous aimez le plan, la Ville devrait-elle l'approuver à titre de contrat à un fournisseur exclusif (non concurrentiel)?
- Si oui, le plan est-il sensé sur le plan financier et protège-t-il les intérêts des contribuables?

La Ville sondera les résidants au cours de six
réunions publiques qui auront lieu du 28 septembre au 6 octobre.
